Corey and Todd discuss the war on words including the University of New Hampshire’s call to cease using the term “American” as offensive and biased, calling for using the term “US Citizen” or “resident of the United States”, and Pediatrics journal’s proposal to cease calling breastfeeding “natural” to further protect “institutional authority” and vaccinations. The 1933 speech by former commissioner of the SEC Jerome Frank on “Experimental Jurisprudence” and the New Deal is further deconstructed, including its calling proponents of the customary “folkways” as barbarous and satanic. The CHP’s continued schizophrenic behavior is examined including an attempt to pass an unsigned “Code of Honor” off as oaths of office. And, the two-way street of federal agencies holding county sheriff’s accountable and vice-versa is examined around the Paul Tanaka corruption trial in Los Angeles County.
Term “American” is Problematic for Some Academia
The University of New Hampshire has issued a Bias-Free Language Guide which identifies the word “American” as a “problematic” term which should not be used. Other “problematic” words on the taxpayer-funded school’s lengthy list include “mothering,” “fathering,” “healthy,” “homosexual,” “rich,” “poor” and “senior citizen,” notes Campus Reform.

Does it hurt to call breastfeeding “natural”?
Today, pregnant women and new mothers encounter the mantra ‘breast is best’ at every turn. Along with extolling the health benefits of breastfeeding, breastfeeding promotion regularly refers to breastfeeding as the ‘natural’ way to feed infants. Recent work has challenged the extent of breastfeeding’s benefits, and ethical criticism of breastfeeding promotion as overbearing, stigmatizing and shaming has also grown. Despite this growing critical perspective, there has been little said thus far about breastfeeding promotion that praises breastfeeding as the ‘natural’ way to feed infants.
